Home40th Anniversary CommemorationStatement of Intention
During the 40th Anniversary Year of the Expulsion, the British Ugandan Asian Community is coming together once again to commemorate their displacement and give thanks to the UK for accepting them onto their shores. Following initial consultation with key opinion leaders on April 26th 2012 at the House of Lords and then with a broader group of community members at the House of Commons on June 21st 2012, there was over-riding support for the idea that we should mark the fateful events of 1972 and pass on the community's collective experience to the younger generation before it is too late.

In an ambitious program inspired by Shri Praful Patel (former member of Uganda Resettlement Board, 1972-1975), a core committee is planning several cultural, social and business events throughout the year and ultimately a charitable endowment that will create lasting impact.
